3 November 2014 – Philippine Ambassador to Norway Bayani S. Mercado hands over books on Philippine tourism, cuisine, history and government to Mayor Christine Sagen Helgø of Stavanger for its city library.

Stavanger is known as the oil capital of Norway and the third biggest city in that country. The Greater Stavanger region is home to Statoil, Scandinavia’s largest company, and about 3,000 Filipinos.

In the past, Ambassador Mercado has also donated Filipiniana books to the Oslo City Public Library, Helsinki University Library, Reykjavik National and City Libraries, as a way of promoting the Philippines in the Nordic region.  END
