3 November 2014 – Philippine Consul General Marichu Mauro welcomed top Filipino designers Rene Salud, accompanied by designers Mr. Raymond Villanueva and Ms. Lynette Padolina with Filipino community leaders from Rome Dr. Casimero Dulay and Ms. Cri Quintos from Milan on October 27 at the Philippine Consulate General in Milan.

The world-renowned fashion designers were in Italy to conduct fashion shows in Rome and Milan and showcase Philippine natural fibers such as piña and abaca. The fabrics and accessories used were made using eco-fibers and organic materials native to the Philippines. The Filipino designers exhibited innovation and creativity in making both casual and high fashion wear.

Consul General Mauro shared the importance of introducing Philippine fabrics into the Italian market for their unique quality and uses other than in fashion wear. Furthermore, she expressed her interest to continue promoting Philippine native materials and talent in design in Milan and Northern Italy.  END
