3 November 2014 - The Philippine Embassy in Dhaka hosted an afternoon social with the ladies of the ASEAN diplomatic community in Dhaka, represented by Brunei Darussalam, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam, at the social hall of the Philippine chancery on October 23. The program included poetry reading, karaoke singing, and a salo-salo of the Filipinos’ all-time favorite dessert, halo-halo and other Philippine delicacies.
A poem read in both Cebuano and English versions by Madame Alma Maria A. Bandillo served as the afternoon program’s opening salvo. Madame Quek Yi Ling of Singapore came next by sharing a poem in English written by a Singaporean poet.
From poetry reading, the ambiance shifted to the Asians’ much-loved pastime, karaoke singing, as Thailand Ambassador Madurapochana Ittarong took the floor with her rendition of “Have I Told You Lately” by Rod Stewart.
Everyone partook of halo-halo, kutsinta, coconut macaroons and cassava cake served at the gathering.
The program ended with the hosts giving Philippine-made handicrafts as tokens to the guests. END
