04 November 2014 - Upon the request of the Philippine Embassy in Dili, the International Labour Organization (ILO) Liaison Office in Timor-Leste gave a short briefing for Embassy officials and staff on the latest labor market situation in Timor-Leste on October 21.

ILO designated its Senior Economist and Officer-in-Charge of its Training and Employment Support Programme, Mr. Owais Parray, to conduct the briefing.

The initiative provided an excellent opportunity for the Embassy to better understand and appreciate the realities of Timor-Leste’s nascent labor sector.

Speaking on behalf of the other Embassy officials, Philippine Ambassador to Timor-Leste Maria Aileen H. Bugarin conveyed her appreciation to Mr. Parray for generously sharing with the Embassy some of the results of the latest analytical study of ILO on Timor-Leste’s labor market. She also expressed her fervent wish that the briefing would pave the way for more collaborative undertakings between the Embassy and ILO. END
