 ankara sort

06 November 2014 – On the occasion of the 91st Republic Day on October 29, personnel from the Philippine Embassy in Ankara volunteered to sort donated clothing for refugees, mostly Syrians and Kurds, in Turkey.

The team extensively sorted donated clothes from Meryem Ana Catholic Community Church in Ankara, which regularly receives numerous donations of used clothing mostly from expatriates in Turkey. The clothes are sorted according to seasonal use and potential recipient’s gender and age, ands are sent to Syrian refugee camps in Turkey.

Philippine Ambassador to Turkey Maria Rowena Mendoza Sanchez, who attended the National Day parade and ceremony of Turkey, applauded her team’s effort in doing something worthwhile specifically on Turkey’s National Day.  Other team members will also do similar volunteer work in other churches in Ankara for this purpose.
