10 November 2014 – The Philippine Embassy in Rome, together with some members of the Filipino community, commemorated the celebration of the National Rice Awareness Month “Be RICEponsible Campaign” on November 03.

During the flag-raising ceremony held at the Embassy’s Consular Section, Special Agriculture Representative Lupiño Lazaro Jr. commenced the celebration by imparting a short background on the celebration on the National Rice Month and encouraging our kababayans to be responsible in preparing rice and to consume only sufficient amount to avoid waste.

The Philippine Embassy staff and members of the Filipino community pledged their commitment to be responsible in this endeavor by reciting the “Panatang Makapalay” led by Mr. Lazaro.

The National Awareness Month is celebrated annually every November pursuant to Proclamation No. 524, s. 2004, which was issued on January 05, 2004. END
