10 November 2014 – The Philippine Consulate General in Chicago reports on the visit of the team from Bukidnon State University (BSU) to the Northern Illinois University (NIU) in De Kalb, Illinois last October 27.  This was a follow up to the visit of a BSU delegation to the NIU last February 19 which resulted in the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the two universities. 

 The MOU was signed by Mr. Victoria and Dr. Deborah Pierce, Associate Vice President of NIU.  The MOU was the result of continuous efforts of the Consulate General of the Philippines in Chicago to promote academic linkages between Philippine and Midwestern universities.

 The BSU delegation was led by Dr. Joy Mirasol and was met by Dr. Sue Russell and Dr. Lina Davide-Ong of the NIU’s Center for Southeast Asian Studies and International Training Office. Vice Consul Ricarte Abejuela III accompanied the delegation. 

 Among the specific activities that the officials agreed to cooperate on are on student internships, teacher exchanges and joint research. END
