11 November 2014 – As young Filipinos who have made New Zealand their second home make their mark in sports, 18-year old Angelo Foronda Bonita visited and called on Philippine Ambassador to New Zealand Virginia H. Benavidez on November 04 as he prepares to leave for Manila before the end of this month.

Angelo has been chosen to be part of the Philippine Under 19 Rugby Team and attend the National u19s Training Camp in Laguna starting December 04 and the Asian Rugby u19s Championship in Manila from December 10 to 13. Currently studying at Saint Bernard’s College, Angelo plays Halfback which is number 9 in rugby.

The yough athlete said tha he is looking forward to his trip and training under the Philippine Rugby Football Union (PRFU) and thanked the Philippine Embassy for the prayers and support. Ambassador Benavidez conveyed best wishes for his success. “It is heartening to know that a young Filipino who developed the love and skill for the game in New Zealand, considered as the Rugby Nation, will be given the wonderful opportunity to be trained and play in his home country, the Philippines where rugby is fast becoming a favorite recognized popular sport and the Philippine national team called Philippine Volcanoes winning several international competitions,” she said.
