11 November 2014 – Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Chief of Staff General Gregorio Pio P. Catapang, Jr. paid a courtesy call on Philippine Ambassador to Brunei Darussalam Nestor Z. Ochoa on November 06 at the Philippine Chancery.

AFP Chief of Staff General Catapang was in Brunei for a four-day Chiefs of Defense Conference (CHOD) 2014, which was attended by high-level military leaders and representatives from various countries in the Asia Pacific region.  Themed "Multilateralism: Practical Cooperation towards Shared Responsibilities," the conference promotes open dialogue for militaries to enhance cooperation and better respond to common security challenges in more concrete and practical ways.

CHOD is jointly organized by the United States Pacific Command (USPACOM) and the Royal Brunei Armed Force (RBAF). It is attended by military leaders and representatives from 26 countries and serves as an annual regional avenue that gives top military leaders the opportunity to come together, interact closely and discuss cooperative matters relating to defense and security.

The Ambassador and his spouse, Madame Mayie E. Ochoa, also hosted a dinner at the “Ang Bahay”, the Ambassador’s official residence in Brunei, for AFP Chief of Staff General Catapang and his spouse, Mrs. Vilma P. Catapang, and party. END
