toronto remembrance day

14 November 2014 – Philippine Consul-General Junever Mahilum-West joined the Consular Corps of Toronto at the wreathlaying ceremony at the Ontario Veterans War Memorial in Queen’s Park (Legislative Assembly) on November 11 in Toronto. The Remembrance Day commemoration was in honor of 1.7 million Canadian men and women who served in uniform since the last World Wars until today's peacekeeping forces.  Cpl. Nathan Cirillo and Warrant Officer Patrice Vincent were given a special tribute. The Honorable Lt. Gov. Elizabeth Dowdeswell, The Hon. Premier Kathleen Wynne and Brig. Gen. Lowell Thomas led the solemn ceremony. Maj. Gen. Richard Rohmer, WWII veteran and Canada's most decorated citizen, spoke on behalf of veterans, affirming that their sacrifices were truly worthwhile given Canada’s progress and dynamism today.  Senator Tobias “Jun” Enverga, Jr. laid the wreath on behalf of the Government of Canada  (Photo courtesy of the Office of Senator Enverga).
