14 November 2014 – Philippine Ambassador to Spain Carlos C. Salinas witnessed the signing ceremony of an agreement between the Real Madrid Foundation and the Roxas Foundation on the establishment of two socio-sports schools in Nasugbu, Batangas and La Carlota, Negros. The agreement was signed by Roxas Foundation President Beatriz Roxas and Real Madrid Foundation Executive Vice President Enrique Sanchez on October 29, at Santiago Bernabéu Stadium.
The socio-sports schools are expected to accommodate about 180 girls and boys aged between five and 12 from eight different elementary schools in Nasugbu and La Carlota. Real Madrid Foundation will provide training courses for Filipino football coaches, while the Roxas Foundation will provide the venue and identify the qualified students.
During his brief remarks, Ambassador Salinas lauded the project of the two foundations, saying that the children will not only develop their talents but, at the same time, they will also acquire values, characters and discipline in the course of their training, which will eventually help them to succeed in the future. Ambassador Salinas also added that initiatives such as this add impetus to the ongoing revitalization of the Philippine sports sector. END
