17 November 2014 – Mr. Mahabsar Lucman, Jr., a staff member assigned at the Southeast Asia Division, Office of Asian and Pacific Affairs (ASPAC) of the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), called on Philippine Consul General Gina A. Jamoralin at the Philippine Consulate General in Honolulu on November 12.
Mr. Lucman is in Honolulu as a participant in the Brunei-US English Language Enrichment Project for ASEAN, a partnership between the University of Brunei Darussalam and the East-West Center in Honolulu, Hawaii, and sponsored by the Government of Brunei Darussalam.
Now on its third year, the program aims to improve English proficiency and leadership development; build human capacity, and develop knowledge of regional issues and peoples and cultures of ASEAN and people-to-people linkages in the region. Two courses in the 11-Week English Language Program—one for teacher-trainers (TT) and one for officers and diplomats (OD)— are offered simultaneously, with the first leg at the University of Brunei Darussalam from September 06 to October 24, and the second leg at the East-West Center from October 25 to November 22.
