19 November 2014 – Philippine Consul General Marciano R. de Borja met with 13 Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) cadets from various Philippine universities and six Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) personnel during his book launching at the University of Guam on November 12. The ROTC cadets and their AFP instructors were on Guam for a week-long ROTC exchange program with the University of Guam Senior Army Cadets.
The AFP personnel were Capt. Zumeela Y. Serrona PN (GSC), Lt. Col. Fernando C. Monis, Jr. PA (GSC), Lt. Col. Ronel R. Manalo (Cav) PA, LCDR Pio V. Labaco PN, MSG Anelisa M. Amboni PAF, TSG Conrado S. Seguin PA.
The AFP ROTC Cadets were PFC Aura Desire G. Asuncion PN (M) (Res), PFC Elissa C. Banlasan PN (M) (Res), Sgt. Stephanie G. Bernardo PAF (Res), Sgt. John Mark S. Calilung PA (Res), SW2 Mena A. Castillo PN (Res), Sgt. Corita Luzzini A. Doronila PA (Res), Sgt. Keema T. Emplamado PAF (Res), Sgt. Alecxander S. Ibrado PA (Res), Sgt. James Aaron R. Lacsamana PA (Res), Sgt. Jan Rogie Macandili PAF (Res), Sgt. Clarence M. Matibag PA (Res), PO3 Phoebus A. Padios PN (Res) and Sgt Joenaly A. Piadopo PAF (Res).
The Guam National Guard hosted the Filipino ROTC cadets under the State Partnership Program, which includes a bilateral exchange program between ROTC Cadets from Philippine and Guam universities to enhance culture and language awareness among future military leaders. The highlight of the exchange program was the participation of the ROTC cadets in physical and water survival training activities. They also attended and observed various ROTC Military Science and Leadership courses undertaken by their Guam counterparts.
The ROTC cadets and AFP personnel also called on Major General Benny Paulino, Adjutant General of the Guam National Guard, and Dr. Robert Underwood, President of the University of Guam. END
