19 November 2014 - Filipino Painter Jonal Buenafe opens his first ever solo exhibit in Turkey on November 03 at Vakif Bank Art Gallery in Ankara. His solo exhibit runs from November 03 to November 14.
In attendance at the opening ceremony were Philippine Ambassador to Turkey Maria Rowena Mendoza Sanchez, Minister Robert Ferrer, 2nd Secretary and Vice Consul Ericka Anna Abad, and the entire the Embassy of the Philippines in full support. Ms. Flerida A. Jimenez, Director of the Commission on Audit, an art enthusiast and painter herself, also attended the event. Other members of the Filipino community in Ankara were in attendance to show support for their kababayan. Prominent Turkish artists were also present, as well as Turkish art collectors and gallery owners.
Jonal Buenafe, born in Manila, got his degree in Fine Arts major in Paintings at the University of Santo Tomas. He specializes in oil paintings and loves to do figurative images on canvas. He lives in Ankara with her Turkish wife, Ms. Hayriye, who is also an artist in her spare time. END
