21 November 2014 - The Philippine Consulate General in Milan conducted a mobile consular outreach service in Genoa on November 14. The mobile team was led by Vice-Consul Maria Rosanna Josue.

The mobile consular team processed a total of 97 applications.  Other consular services such as notarials, translations, civil registrations, acknowledgement of legal documents and certifications were also made available to the Filipino community.

The attached Philippine agencies, the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA), Social Security System (SSS), Philippine Overseas Labor Office (POLO) and Pag-IBIG, offered their respective services as well.

Sixty-six (66) people also registered as overseas voters or updated their addresses as part of the Consulate General’s ongoing overseas voters registration campaign. The public was reminded to inform the Consulate General of any changes in address in order to reflect this new information which is necessary for them to receive their ballot for the National Elections in 2016.

Filipinos in Genoa appreciated the mobile consular service by the Consulate General since the last one was in 2012.  Many applicants also expressed gratitude that the mobile consular service pushed through despite the rains experienced in the Liguria region for the past week.

The venue, the Commenda di San Giovanni di Prè, is a complex of two Romanesque churches that served as lodging for men leaving for the Holy Land during the Third Crusade and a hospital for pilgrims.

Genoa is 142 km south of Milan and is located on the Ligurian Coast.  Genoa is the birth place of world-famous explorer, Christopher Colombus. The Port of Genoa is the busiest port in Italy and is frequented by both cargo and cruise ships. END
