Yangon

26 November 2014 – The Philippine Embassy in Yangon, Myanmar held a Gender and Awareness (GAD) lecture on cervical cancer on November 21.

Mr. Graeme Lade, Board Member of the Australian Cervical Cancer Association (ACCA), discussed the testing, diagnosis, treatment and prevention of cervical cancer. Stressing the importance of prevention, he advocated the use of routine pap tests and vaccination. Mr. Lade also discussed ACCA’s projects in Nepal, Bhutan, Kiribati, Viet Nam and the Philippines.

The ACCA is a charity organization founded in 2007 to create awareness of cervical cancer and its prevention, particularly in poor and remote villages in developing countries. In support of women’s health around the world, ACCA conducts awareness campaigns and promotes vaccination, whenever possible, in Nepal, Bhutan, Kiribati and Viet Nam. The ACCA is set to launch a similar program in Catarman, Samar. END
