26 November 2014 - The vital role of the Filipino youth in strengthening relations between the Philippines and Italy was cited by Philippine Consul General Marichu Mauro when she graced the graduation ceremony of the workshop organized by the Council of Youth Leadership and Development in Brescia in the Veneto Region of Italy on November 24.

In her inspirational talk, Consul General Mauro reminded the Filipino youth of their culture and traditions and urged them to always look back and be proud of their origin and heritage while growing up and molding their lives in Italy.  “As future leaders of Philippine and Italian societies, you have a vital role in making an impact in your communities,” remarked Consul General Mauro. She also encouraged them to harness their talents and skills in order to improve their lives, and to be responsible and independent while growing up in a foreign land.

Around 70 Filipino youth attended the seminar/workshop held at AC Hotel in Brescia. An open forum with Filipino community leaders was also conducted to address various concerns of the community. There are more than 3,000 Filipinos in the area.  Filipinos were encouraged to register for the 2016 national elections.  END
