28 November 2014 - The Philippine Consulate General in Vancouver participated in “Philippine Fest”, a Filipino festival held at the Aberdeen Centre Mall in Richmond, British Columbia on November 23. The event, organized by Symphony Hill and Even 8, in cooperation with the Consulate General, successfully showcased Philippine culture through arts and crafts, music, dance and cuisine.
Philippine Deputy Consul General to Vancouver Anthony Achilles L. Mandap led the Consulate General team whose display of Philippine-made products such as native bags, handmade embroideries, linens, fine jewelry pieces, woodcrafts and various handicrafts were admired by both former Filipinos and foreigners who visited the exhibit. Tourism brochures distributed at the event focused on the theme “Its More Fun in the Philippines”, and featured the Winter Escapade 2, a special tourism promotion for the Canadian market. The tourism materials showed many reasons why the Philippines is a favorite destination of tourists from Canada.
Highlights of the festivities were presentations from the Historama group, musical and dance performances both from Manila-based and home grown talents, painting exhibition from the Dimasalang Artists II and the Christmas lantern making competition. END
