3 December 2014 – Philippine exporters, in a bid to hit shelves in Myanmar, met with Myanmar importers at the Exporters/Importers Meeting held at Shangri-La Sule Hotel, on November 28.

The meeting, a side-event of Linamnam Fiesta, gathered 28 importers from the largest distribution and retail companies in Myanmar.

Philippine Ambassador to Myanmar Alex G. Chua, in his opening speech, expressed hope that more Philippine products would hit Myanmar shelves. “The establishment of the ASEAN Economic Community will benefit consumers in the region as products from member countries will be made available in the local market,” he said.

Philippine products showcased at the meeting included mixes and sauces, condiments, snacks and delicacies, noodles, vegetables and sweet fruit preserves, fruit juices, coffee and spirits.

Fresh produce---mangoes and pomelo from Davao, taro and pili nuts from Bicol, calamansi from Mindoro, banana saba from Cagayan Valley and Mindoro, heirloom rice from Batangas, and milkfish from Pangasinan---were also featured.
