03 December 2014 – Philippine Ambassador to Thailand Jocelyn Batoon-Garcia and other Embassy officials called on Governor Ugrich Pungsopa of the Province of Nan in Northwestern Thailand on November 12.
Ambassador Batoon-Garcia and the Governor discussed ways of increasing cooperation between the local government units and the Filipino community. They also discussed how to promote economic interaction between Nan and the Philippines, with a greater focus on tourism. Additionally, they talked about the future potential contribution of the Filipino community to the province. The Ambassador also took the opportunity to introduce the incoming Philippine Honorary Consul, Mr. Agkarajit Phanomvan Na Ayudhya, to the Governor, local officials, and the Filipino community.
The Embassy consular team, headed by Vice Consul Jay Alcantara and including Ms. Rowena Tolosa, Mr. Erlito Bayaga, and Ms. Michelle Espiritu, conducted a consular outreach program for the Filipinos. Vice Consul Alcantara gave a seminar on several local and regional concerns. He also listened to the Filipinos’ experiences and counseled them on their concerns in Nan. END
