04 December 2014 – The Philippine Embassy in Abuja conducted a flag raising ceremony in the observance of the 151st Andres Bonifacio Day on December 01 at the Philippine Embassy Chancery.
On the actual day of the celebration on November 30, the Embassy conducted a lecture on the life of Gat Andres Bonifacio before holding the overseas voters’ registration at the residence of Vice Consul Ralf Roldan.
Vice Consul Roldan stressed the significance of Bonifacio and the revolution in the country’s fight for freedom, and that the important exercise of the right of suffrage is attributed to the heroes and patriots, including Bonifacio, who helped achieve the country’s independence. Philippine Ambassador to Nigeria Alex V. Lamadrid also shared his thoughts on the glorious life of Bonifacio and elicited further interest on Bonifacio’s interesting yet controversial life. After the short lecture, the guests and overseas voter registrants were treated to a fare of Filipino dishes in celebration of the Philippine holiday.
The Embassy was able to register 12 new overseas voters that day. END
