10 December 2014 – Philippine Ambassador to Mexico Catalino R. Dilem, Jr., met with Museo Del Palacio De Bellas Artes (Museum of the Palace of Fine Arts) Director of Exhibition Alberto Gonzales Torres on December 05. The meeting was held with the purpose of establishing closer relations between the Philippine Embassy and the Museum.
The Museo del Palacio de Bellas Artes is the most important cultural center in Mexico, located on the west side of the historic center of Mexico City. The museum was opened in 1934 and has been the scene of some of the most notable events in music, dance, theatre, opera and literature. It is also host to many important exhibitions of painting, sculture and photography.
During the meeting, Ambassador Dilem briefed the Director about Philippine-Mexican cultural relations which had its initial stages in the Manila-Acapulco Galleon trade. He also informed Director Torres of the Embassy’s painting exhibitions this year of painter Manuel Baldemor in Acapulco and in the capital. Ambassador Dilem shared with the Director the Embassy’s plan to conduct the same in the future, to which the latter offered his assistance and support for the endeavour.END
