05 August 2013 – Philippine Ambassador to South Africa Constancio R. Vingno Jr. swore into office Mr. Akash Singh as Honorary Consul General for the City of Durban and the Province of Kwazulu-Natal in the eastern part of South Africa on July 30 at the Philippine Embassy in Pretoria.

Honorary Consul General Singh is the President of the Durban Chamber of Commerce and Industry. He is a respected businessman in Durban, which is one of the busiest port cities in the African continent.

Before being sworn into office, Ambassador Vingno briefed Honorary Consul General Singh on the functions and duties of his office, including the promotion of Philippine economic interests and the protection of the welfare of Filipinos. END
