10 December 2014 – The Philippine Embassy in Doha won in two categories, mix double and spouses, during the ASEAN Committee in DOHA (ACD) Badminton Tournament 2014 held on December 06 at the Philippine School in Doha Auditorium. The badminton tournament was co-organized by the Indonesian and Vietnamese Embassies in Doha.

Mrs. Naomi Loing Relacion, the wife of Philippine Ambassador to Qatar Crescente R. Relacion, beat the spouse of the Vietnamese ambassador to clinch first place in the spouses’ category.

Mrs. Relacion then turned it into a double victory by teaming up with the Embassy’s Cultural Officer and Attaché Richard T. Billedo to win against their Malaysian opponents in the mix double category.

The badminton tournament is part of a series of sports competitions to foster camaraderie and sportsmanship among the ASEAN embassies in Doha. The ACD is currently comprised of Brunei Darussalam, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam. END
