Geneva

11 December 2014 - In commemoration of the 151st Anniversary of the birth of Gat Andres Bonifacio, the Philippine Consulate General in Geneva held its third “Bukas ng Linggo sa Araw ni Gat Andres Bonifacio,” on November 30, a project where consular services are offered to Filipinos in the Cantons of Geneva and Vaud on a Sunday, thus bringing government services closer to the people.

The Consulate General being open on certain Sundays allow members of the community the opportunity to avail themselves of the consular services on their off-from-work days. This has been a much appreciated initiative especially by many Filipinos in the Canton of Geneva who work as domestic staff with Sunday as their only off-day.

The Consulate General also conducted overseas voters registration and one-on-one consultations with Mission/Consulate Officers, while the Labor Office delivered Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA), Social Security System (SSS), and Pag-IBIG Services.

In addition to “Bukas ng Linggo sa Araw ni Gat Andres Bonifacio,” the Consulate General also held the “Kalusugan ng Kababaihan: A Forum on Women’s Health and Wellness” and the final week of the Financial Education Seminar Workshop for Filipinos in Geneva, also on November 30.

The Filipino community members in Geneva expressed their appreciation for the various projects being undertaken by the Consulate General to serve them better and advance their welfare and well-being.

The Consulate General collaborates with leaders of the Filipino community in assessing and addressing the needs of the Filipinos under its jurisdiction. There are about 6,000 Filipinos living in the Cantons of Geneva and Vaud. END
