12 December 2014 - Officials and organizations from the Philippines bagged top prizes in Public Affairs Asia’s Gold Standard Awards held on December 04 at the Foreign Correspondents’ Club in Hong Kong. The Filipino winners are:
- Congressman Manny Pacquiao, Ambassador for SAFE STEPS, a disaster preparedness project, as HP Gold Standard Awardee for Communicator of the Year; and
- Weather Philippines Foundation as Yahoo! Gold Standard “Internet for Good” Awardee for the organization’s proactive disaster preparedness program of installing a network of weather stations around the Philippines to provide free, accurate and timely weather information via its website and Facebook page.
Microsoft Mobile Oy’s Text2Teach project in the Philippines also won the Gold Standard Award for Public Private Partnership. This initiative is a mobile-based tutoring program specially in math and science. Its pilot program was implemented in Silay City, Negros Occidental.
The Gold Standard Awards was organized in 2010 by Public Affairs Asia, a network of senior government relations, corporate affairs and corporate communications professionals operating across the Asia Pacific region. The Awards recognize global excellence in Asia-Pacific in the field of public and corporate affairs.
The Philippine Consulate General in Hong Kong was awarded the Gold Standard Award for Diplomatic Engagement in 2013 for its initiatives to protect overseas Filipino workers (OFWs). END
