15 December 2014 - Philippine Ambassador to Mexico Catalino R. Dilem, Jr. paid a courtesy call on Senator Gabriela Cuevas Barron, President (Chairperson) of the Committee on Foreign Affairs of the Mexican Senate on December 05, during which he updated the latter on the status of the bilateral relations between the Philippines and Mexico.

Affiliated with the National Action Party, the 35-year-old current Senate Foreign Affairs Committee President has served as a Mexico City district chief (jefe delegacional) and federal deputy in the Chamber of Deputies of the Mexican National Congress before becoming a senator in 2012.

Ambassador Dilem, Jr. highlighted the continuing amicable and fruitful relations between the Philippines and Mexico.  He cited the successful commemoration of the 450th anniversary of the Legazpi-Urdaneta Expedition to the Philippine archipelago last month in Barra de Navidad and Guadalajara in the federal state of Jalisco.

Recognizing the important and wide-ranging ties binding the two countries, Senator Cuevas Barron expressed her readiness to collaborate with the Philippine Embassy in Mexico in further expanding and intensifying the bilateral relations, especially in the fields of trade and investment. END
