16 December 2014 - The Philippine Consulate General in Sydney organized a workshop entitled, “Health and Wellness Through Qigong,” as part of the Consulate General’s promotion of health and wellness of its personnel under its Gender and Development Program (GAD) program. The one-day workshop was held at the Official Residence of the Philippine Consul General in Sydney on December 06. The activity was attended by a total of 16 participants comprising Consulate General’s personnel and family members. Dr. Maria Elena Villacorta Cortez, a Filipino-Australian instructor of Sheng Zeng Australia, facilitated the workshop.
During the workshop, Dr. Cortez discussed the principles and movements of Sheng Zeng Gong and Qigong. She said that these movements could strengthen and relax the body, dissolve negative emotions, clarify the mind, open the heart and ultimately elevate the spirit. The workshop participants followed the Qigong’s relaxing and flowing movements and still meditation which can help a person deal with stress at work on a daily basis as well as promote harmony and teamwork in the workplace.
