16 December 2014 – The Philippine Consulate General in Shanghai with the Filipino community and the students of the International Philippine School in Shanghai (IPSS) held its Christmas party at the Shanghai Children’s Home (SCH) on December 12, themed “PHSH Kids” (Philippines Love Shanghai Kids).
To break the traditional Christmas party practice, the Consulate General organized a visit to the orphanage at the SCH. The objective of the visit was to share the Christmas spirit and joy with the orphans with disability during the holiday season.
There were 30 disabled orphans who participated in the program and mingled with the students from IPSS. Students from the IPSS performed a Christmas song and dance for the orphans and the officials of the SCH. They were invited by the students to sing and dance with them on stage. After the performances, the kids were served with drinks and snacks (chicken/beef empanada and soft sweet bread) courtesy of OISHI (Liwayway China Co., Ltd) while the shirts that they are wearing were donated by Ms. Lee Mie, General Manager of Dai-Ichi Electronics Co., Ltd. Afterwards, games of pass the orange and statue dance were played by the students together with the orphans.
The event was a first among the Consulate General and it lend a very positive image of Filipinos living here.
