16 December 2014 - Close to 500 Filipinos were served during consular outreach missions held in the cities of Kagoshima and Hiroshima on November 15 and from December 06 to 07, respectively, by the Philippine Consulate General in Osaka.

Consultations were also conducted with regard to the processes for marriages, judicial recognition of divorce, and other consular documents.

The Consulate General also held discussions with Filipino community leaders in both cities on how to better serve the needs of Filipinos in their jurisdiction particularly on enhancing the transparency of the application process and the more effective dissemination of information regarding requirements and processes.

The two consular outreach missions bring to a close the Consulate General’s outreach program for 2014; nine were held in total: three in Nagoya, two in Gifu and one in Fukuoka and Oita City. The program served 2,251 applications for passports, notarial, authentication, Report of Birth, Report of Marriage and other miscellaneous services. And for the last three outreach missions, 651 Filipinos registered as overseas voters.

The Philippine Consulate General has recently uploaded on its website (http:\\osakapcg.dfa.gov.ph/index.php/login/2013-10-14-01-48-43) its 2015 consular outreach mission schedule which include Nagoya City, Gifu and Mie prefectures, Hiroshima City and Kumamoto City and Fukuoka City in Kyushu.

The program aims to bring consular services to the 85,000 Filipinos spread in the 28 prefectures under its jurisdiction in Western Japan. END
