07 August 2013 - Philippine Consul General Maria Hellen Barber De La Vega joined the Filipino community in Los Angeles in celebrating the 11th founding Anniversary of Historic Filipinotown. A major highlight was the Adoption Mass of Pedro Calungsod as Patron Saint for Historic Filipinotown and a 5K Run in Los Angeles participated by more than 100 individuals.
As part of the celebration, a Festival was organized by the Historic Filipinotown Council, which included GMA Variety Show, live performances of Filipino-American artists, Battle of the Bands and a fashion show.
The Historic Filipinotown was established on August 02, 2002 through a City Council Resolution spearheaded by then Council President Eric Garcetti, who is now the new Mayor of Los Angeles City. END
