22 December 2014 – Philippine Ambassador Catalino R. Dilem, Jr., accompanied by Administrative Officer Bernardo Bagalay, presented to Nicaraguan Foreign Minister Samuel Santos López the copies of his Letter of Credence as non-resident Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Republic of Nicaragua on December 17.  A meeting followed the presentation ceremony with the discussions focusing on bilateral issues ranging from  trade, academic and cultural concerns.

The Ambassador likewise met with Director General Rosanna Espinoza Ordoñez, Director Bertha Mendoza Yrigoyen and Lic. Arturo Espinal from the Office of Asia, Africa and Oceania of the Nicaraguan Foreign Ministry and tackled specific common areas that would further expand Philippines-Nicaragua relations.  Both parties agreed to have more meetings in the future in order to concretize programs that would be mutually beneficial to both countries.

 

Ambassador Dilem also met with the members of the Filipino community in Nicaragua and provided them with updates on  the recent developments in the Philippines, particularly the recent achievements of the Philippine economy. The Ambassador also shared the good news that the City of Vigan made it to the list of the New Seven Wonder Cities of the World.  END
