23 December 2014 – Philippine Consul General Marichu Mauro in cooperation with the Chaplain of the Filipino community in Venice and Comunità Filippina di Venezia (Filipino Community of Venice) Monsignor Luigi Ramazotti, led by its president Darwin Gutierrez, met with various high-ranking officials from Venice over a working lunch held at the Santa Maria della Fava Church.
The event, the first of its kind, gathered together officials from the Prefettura, Questura (Police), Immigration and Social Security agency as well as various officials that are directly connected to the welfare of the Filipino community in Venice. Consul General Mauro thanked them for all the services they extend to the community and gave special mention to Fr. Ramazotti who has gone above and beyond his duties as Chaplain to the Filipinos.
An exchange of ideas was also held over a proposed information point that will be set up where Filipinos in Venice can go to make inquiries and seek advice over matters relating to any of the agencies mentioned. In turn, all the Venetian officials expressed their admiration for the Filipino community and encouraged them to integrate more with the Venetian society as they believe Philippine culture has a lot to offer and can be a great addition to the further enrichment of the Venetian way of life.
Venice is the capital of the Veneto Region which is one of the eight regions in Northern Italy under the jurisdiction of the Consulate General. END
