07 January 2015 - The Philippine Embassy in Brunei Darussalam commemorated the 118th anniversary of the martyrdom of Dr. Jose Rizal on December 30, 2014 at the Embassy grounds.
The program started with a flag ceremony, which was followed by the wreath-laying rites.
Vice Consul and Charge d’Affaires Melvin Almonguera, read Ambassador Nestor Z. Ochoa’s message for the occasion to the Embassy’s officers and staff, and the personnel of the attached agencies.
The Ambassador, in his message, highlighted the similarities between the challenges experienced by Dr. Jose Rizal during his studies overseas, and those by overseas Filipino workers. He enjoined Filipinos overseas, including the Embassy’s personnel, to treat the national hero as an inspiration in meeting daily challenges at work for the sake of their families back home and the nation.
