08 January 2015 – The Philippine Delegation headed by Acting Health Secretary Dr. Janette Garin participated in the ASEAN Plus Three Health Ministers’ Special Meeting on Ebola Preparedness and Response, held on December 14 to 15, 2014 in Bangkok. The discussions centered on efforts of the different countries to counter the spread of the Ebola virus and possible areas of cooperation.

In his remarks, Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha of Thailand said that ASEAN should not be complacent in its efforts to fight the virus.

Philippine Ambassador to Thailand Jocelyn Batoon-Garcia and Second Secretary Ms. Princess Tomas-Tayao attended the Opening of the Special Ministerial Meeting on 15 December 2014.  Senior Health Program Officers Mesdames Maria Cristy Yuson and Analyin Sumido also attended the Meeting. END
