Vientiane

8 January 2015 - Christmas fun, music and games reigned at the Philippine Embassy in Vientiane as Philippine Ambassador to Laos Maria Lumen B. Isleta and the Embassy staff welcomed some 60 Filipino community children in Laos along with their families and friends during the 2nd Mano po Ninang, Mano po Ninong “Embassy Open-House event” held on 17 December 2014.

The celebration started with a Holy Mass officiated by Father Beck Inthavong, parish priest of the Sacred Heart Parish in Vientiane.  In her remarks, Ambassador Isleta explained that the Embassy activity is an opportunity for Filipino community kids to celebrate Christmas the traditional Filipino way.

Filipino community children once again experienced the Filipino Christmas tradition of Ninangs/Ninongs or elders giving blessings and giving gifts to children.  Ninangs and Ninongs at the Embassy prepared gifts and goody bags to the delight of the children.

A simple Christmas dinner comprising of Filipino style spaghetti, arrozcaldo, fried chicken, barbecue, cupcakes, sandwiches, among others, were served.  During the event, the attendees enjoyed listening to Christmas hymns performed by the Filipino Catholic Church Choir and joined the raffle draws.
