12 January 2015 - Philippine Ambassador to South Korea Raul S. Hernandez (center in above photo) received the participants in the 2014 Winter Korean Culture Camp on January 08 at the Philippine Chancery. They were accompanied by the officers of the Pinoy Iskolars sa Korea (PIKO), an official student organization in South Korea, led by their president, Mr. Ron Laranjo.
The participants were students and faculty members from the University of the Philippines’ Asian Institute of Tourism and officials of the Philippine Education Program of the National Commission of Culture (NCCA). The 2014 Winter Korean Culture Camp Program was organized by Woosong University from January 04 to 11. The Winter camp gave the participants an opportunity to experience the Korean culture by learning basic Korean language and traditional cuisine, trying on the traditional Korean Hanbok and experiencing snow in South Korea.
After introducing the Winter Camp participants to the Philippine Ambassador, Mr. Laranjo gave an overview of PIKO which has played a valuable role in promoting Philippine culture not only to Koreans but also to the international community.
Ambassador Hernandez shared the cultural programs and the activities of the Philippine Embassy in Seoul which has been very active through the years. He also briefed the participants on the functions and responsibilities of the Philippine Embassy in the promotion of Philippines foreign policy. END
