13 January 2015 – Leyte Kalipayan Dance Company brought joy with their performance at the closing ceremony of the ASEAN-China Cultural Exchange Year on 16 December 2014 at the Myanmar International Convention Center II (MICC=2) in Nay Pyi Taw, Myanmar.

The 54-year old dance troupe showcased the “fun” in Philippine rural life with their lively performance of kadang (dance on bamboo stilts), subli (hat dance), itik-itik (duck dance), and tinikling (bamboo dance).  Their performace was most applauded during the event evoking laughter and amusement from the audience.

The closing sremony of the ASEAN-China Cultural Exchange Year, a commemoration of the 10th anniversary of ASEAN-China Strategic Partnership, celebrated the friendship between the peoples of the region and China through cultural performances from renowned performing groups in the region and China.

Present during the closing ceremony were Myanmar Vice-President U Nyan Htun, Chinese Vice-President Li Yuanchao, and representatives from ASEAN Member Countries.  END
