14 January 2015 - The Philippine Embassy in Santiago, Chile conducted a campaign on financial literacy with the theme “Paghahanda sa Kinabukasan” on December 14, 2014. The activity was organized as part of the Embassy’s Gender and Development year-round initiatives.
In welcoming more than 60 Filipino overseas workers to the event, Philippine Ambassador to Chile Maria Consuelo Puyat-Reyes emphasized the value of saving and investing for the future. She cited the reasons of the participants for working abroad and cautioned that not all OFW stories are successful. She emphasized that Filipinos working overseas should cultivate financial literacy in order to prepare for their return to the Philippines.
A video by Pag-IBIG Fund was shown to the participants informing them of the savings, investing and benefits program of the agency. This was well-received by the participants, who then enthusiastically took part in the Q&A session. END
