22 January 2015 – The Philippine Embassy in Warsaw conducted mobile overseas voterS registration activities on board two Finnish-registered vessels on January 09 at the Nauta Shiprepair Yard in Gdynia, Poland.
Philippine Consul Randy B. Arquiza and Attaché Evelyn Vega comprised the Embassy Team which registered 10 Filipino seafarers onboard MV Finnsun and nine more from sister ship MV Finnsea for a total of 19 new registrants.
The two ships of the Filipino seamen belong to the Finnlines Group with route network covering ports of call around the Baltic Sea and the North Sea regions. Three more ships of the company, all manned primarily by Filipino seamen, are slated to drydock for repairs at the Nauta Yard in the next two months.
Gdynia is a seaport city in Northern Poland on the south coast of the Baltic Sea located about 303 kilometers away from Warsaw and 4 hours by car travel.
The Embassy’s “akyat-barko” activity is a follow-up to the last overseas voters registration event conducted in Tallinn, Estonia on December 13, 2014. END
