26 January 2015 - The Philippine Consulate General in Milan joined the Filipino Catholic community of Sto. Niño de Cebu during its annual celebration of the Feast of Sto. Niño de Cebu on January 18. The event commenced with a Sinulog dance demonstration by the Cebuanos, followed by a procession in the vicinity of the Chiesa Sta. Maria Consolazione. The mass celebrated by the community priest Father Alessandro Vavassori was attended by the faithful who were also celebrating the 21st anniversary of the Community of Sto. Niño.
Vice Consul Helen Anne Sayo, on behalf of Philippine Consul General Marichu Mauro, commended in her message the Filipinos in Milan for continuing this Filipino tradition and expressing their faith and unity through various church activities. She mentioned that the successful visit of Pope Francis in Manila posed a challenge to all Filipinos, particularly Filipino migrants, to continue being evangelizers in today’s modern society.
The feast is celebrated annually by different Filipino associations all over Italy. END
