23 January 2015 – The Philippine Embassy in Riyadh conducted an overseas voter registration outreach in Al Khafji from January 16 to 17.
This was the first overseas voters outreach in Al Khafji since overseas voters registration began in May 2014.
A total of 114 new overseas voter registrations and certifications were facilitated by the Embassy during the outreach mission. Al Khafji is located at the northern tip of Eastern Province and borders Kuwait. The Embassy’s overseas voter registration team travelled over 1400km from Riyadh to Al Khafji and back for the outreach mission.
Registering as overseas voters will enable Filipinos abroad to vote for the 2016 national elections. Overseas voters registration began on 06 May 2014 and will end on 31 October 2015.
Philippine Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Ezzedin H. Tago invited even more Filipinos in the Kingdom to register. “I invite more Filipinos to register as overseas voter and exercise your right to suffrage during the elections in 2016. There are only about ten months to go before the end of registration period,” he said.
Overseas voter registration services are being provided at the Embassy lobby from Sunday to Thursday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Overseas voter registrations will also be conducted during Embassy-on-Wheels (EOW) outreach missions scheduled for 2015. END
