28 January 2015 - The Philippine Embassy in Ankara participated in the 64th commemorative ceremony of the Korean War on January 25, organized by the Turkish War Veterans Association and the South Korean Embassy in Ankara. Embassies of countries that were participants in the war, including the Philippines, were invited.
The ceremony began with a wreath-laying ceremony at the Korean War Memorial located at Kazim Karabekir Street, Cankaya in Ankara. South Korean Ambassador Yun Soo Cho thanked the countries that helped defend his country. In his speech, he also expressed his sorrows for the people who lost their lives in this war.
Ambassador Cho, in his letter to Philippine Ambassador Maria Rowena Mendoza Sanchez dated January 13, said that South Korea would not have survived without the sacrifice of Filipino soldiers and that this act of valor will never be forgotten by the Koreans.
The Embassy was represented by Messrs. Amado P. Desiderio and Renie Santa Agata, Protocol Officer and Security Officer, respectively. END
