30 January 2015 – Philippine Ambassador to China Erlinda F. Basilio participated in the reception of the 6th Think Tank Summit of Chinese Enterpreneurs, held at the Beijing Yanqi Hotel in Yanqi Lake, Huairou District on January 24.
During the reception, Ambassador Basilio provided the Chinese entrepreneurs an overview of the Philippine business environment and enumerated areas for possible cooperation between Philippine and Chinese enterprises.
Ambassador Basilio shared with the audience that the one of the Philippines’ priority as this year’s host of the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) is fostering the participation of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in regional and global economic development. She also strongly urged Chinese SMEs who are looking into investing overseas to consider the Philippines as an investment destination and maximize the advantage offered by its geographic proximity and close cultural relations with China.
China International Cooperation Centre for Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (CICCSMEs), established in 1998, is a think-tank which provides theoretical guidance, strategic consultation, and organizes various trade and economic fora for Chinese entrepreneurs. CICCSMEs have over 3,000 member enterprises (state-owned, stock-sharing, or private firms) from various industries such as building, manufacturing, transportation, among others.
Representatives from the Embassies of Algeria, Cuba, Mongolia, Peru, and Tajikistan were also present during the event. END
