honolulu lunch04 February 2015 -  Philippine Consul General Gina A. Jamoralin hosted a luncheon for former Hawaii Governor Neil Abercrombie with the Consular Corps of Hawaii at the Pacific Club in Honolulu on January 29.

During the luncheon, Consul General Jamoralin awarded Governor Abercrombie with a Certificate of Appreciation for his exemplary service to the people of Hawaii and the Philippines. Governor Abercrombie was a staunch supporter of Filipino World War II Veterans Equity. In the aftermath of Super Typhoon Haiyan/Yolanda, Governor Abercrombie was the first to come to the Consulate General to offer assistance. Last year, Governor Abercrombie sent the Hawaii National Guard in Leyte to conduct a major rehabilitation project at the Marasbaras National High School in Tacloban.

The luncheon was also an opportunity for the Consular Corps of Hawaii to get together informally, and to exchange views, and ask the former Governor questions which he answered candidly. Governor Abercrombie shared his many experiences and insights with the Consular Corps. END
