05 February 2015 - The new officers of the Filipino Community of Guam (FCG), headed by their President Nenita C. Baldovino, paid a courtesy call on Philippine Consul General Marciano R. de Borja at the Consulate General on January 29. During the visit, Consul General De Borja presented to the incumbent FCG executive council the Consulate General’s work plan for 2015, and asked the FCG and its member organizations to lend their full support and cooperation to ensure the success of these projects.
In particular, Consul General de Borja highlighted his intention to focus on economic and cultural diplomacy projects such as the re-establishment of the Filipino-American Chamber of Commerce in Guam, organizing a Philippine Franchise Association (PFA) mission to Guam, as well as expanding ongoing education and cultural exchanges. The Consul General also discussed with the FCG the upcoming 10th Ambassador, Consul General and Tourism Directors Tour (ACGTDT) from July 06 to 10 to be held in Manila and Cebu. He invited the FCG officers to join the tour and help invite member organizations, family, friends and colleagues to participate in this milestone year of the ACGTDT.
Now on its 60th year, the FCG is an active partner of the Consulate General in promoting Philippine culture and heritage, as well as in organizing fund-raising events to help our fellow Filipinos who are affected by natural disasters and other calamities that occur in the Philippines.
Ms. Baldovino, who previously served two terms as FCG President assured Consul General de Borja of the FCG’s continued cooperation and support for the projects of the Consulate General. END
