honolulu call06 February 2015 - US Representative Mark Takai, representing the 1st District of Hawaii, visited the Philippine Consulate General building in Pali Highway, Nuuanu on January 31. Philippine Consul General Gina A. Jamoralin led the Consulate General’s officers and staff in welcoming Representative Takai.

Representative Takai brought with him a copy of H.R. 483, which he introduced in the 114th Congress. House Resolution 483 aims “To exempt children of certain Filipino World War II veterans from the numerical limitations on immigrant visas and for other purposes.” H.R. 483 was introduced on January 22. The co-sponsored of the bill are Representative Joe Heck of Nevada and Representative Tulsi Gabbard of Hawaii’s 2nd District. H.R. 483 was referred to the House Committee on the Judiciary.

Consul General Jamoralin thanked Representative Takai for sponsoring H.R. 483 and supporting other bills in the US House of Representatives benefiting Filipino veterans of World War II. Consul General Jamoralin also thanked the US representative for his interest in joining the Philippines-United States Friendship Caucus in the House. Representative Takai also expressed interest in bringing a Congressional delegation to the Philippines in the near future. END
