23 February 2015 - The Philippine Embassy in Warsaw conducted a Trade and Investment, Cultural and Tourism promotion activity in Gdansk, Poland on January 23, in partnership with the Regional Pomorenian Chamber of Commerce and the Baltic Container Terminal (BCT) Inc., specifically with its President and CEO Krzysztof Szymborski.

Ambassador Patricia Ann V. Paez gave a wide-ranging presentation on the Philippines’ trade and investment opportunities including information on the Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA); PEZA’s fiscal and non-fiscal incentives; projects under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) Scheme; the planned Polish Economic/Business Mission to the Philippines in March 2015 and the tourist attractions of the Philippines.

During the presentation, Ambassador Paez also featured the Department of Tourism video “It’s More Fun in the Philippines.”  The Embassy also mounted the cultural exhibit entitled “The Philippines: The Making of a Nation” at the Hilton Gdansk.

Philippine tourism brochures and CDs containing the list of top 50 Philippine companies importing all kinds of products were also distributed including samples of San Miguel Beer and the Philippine made vodka “Vuqo.”

Ambassador Paez also hosted a reception after the presentation, which was participated in by about 30 businessmen.  Some  have indicated their interest in joining the Philippine Business Mission planned in March this year.

Gdansk is a Polish city on the Baltic coast, the capital of the Pomeranian voivodeship and Poland’s principal seaport and the center of the country’s fourth-largest metropolitan area.

The city lies on the southern edge of Gdansk Bay (of the Baltic Sea), in a conurbation with the city of Gdynia, spa town of Sopot, and suburban communities, which together form a metropolitan area called the Tricity, with a population of almost 1,400,000. Gdansk itself has a population of 460,427, making it the largest city in the Pomerania region of Northern Poland.  END
