03 March 2015 - Overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) in Singapore participated in the Post-arrival Orientation Seminar (PAOS) conducted by the Philippine Overseas Labor Office (POLO) of the Philippine Embassy in Singapore on March 01. This is the first PAOS for OFWs held in Singapore for 2015.

Participants in the seminar were mostly those who have just arrived in Singapore on their first employment contract and who are enrolled in the skills training program of the Filipino Overseas Workers Singapore (FOWS). Philippine National Bank (PNB) Singapore General Manager Cristy Vicentina was also present.

During the seminar, officials of the Philippine Embassy and POLO, headed by Chargé d’Affaires, a.i. Consul General Victorio Mario M. Dimagiba Jr., briefed the participants on matters that are relevant to their work and stay in Singapore.

The topics that were covered included, among others, consular services, assistance-to- nationals (ATN) overseas voters registration (OVR), POLO services, overseas employment certificate (OEC), particularly the new BM online service for OEC issuance, OWWA services, personal safety and Filipino community activities.

The next PAOS will be held in May 2015 following the new format of conducting it once every two months alternating with the regular Filipino community leaders meeting. END
