09 March 2015 – Seven (7) Filipino seafarers were successfully registered by the Philippine Embassy in Tel Aviv as overseas voters for the 2016 national elections. The mobile registration services were extended to the Filipino sailors while their vessel, M/V Skyline, was docked at the Port of Haifa on March 03.

The Filipino seafarers expressed their appreciation for being given the opportunity to vote for their future leaders even without being in the Philippines during the election period.

The mobile registration for seafarers was the first for the Philippine Embassy in Tel Aviv since it conducted the overseas voters registration last May 2014. The Embassy seeks to conduct more registration missions on board sea vessels to promote overseas voting among Filipino seafarers. 

Many sea vessels with Filipino crewmembers navigate the Mediterranean Sea and frequently dock at Israeli ports.  END
